Welcome to Week 1

Welcome to the first week of the Start a CoderDojo club course — your first step in creating a Dojo to help young people in your community learn to code! I'm excited to be working with you as we move through the steps of understanding coding and CoderDojo this week, then to putting together a Dojo and a team in Week 2, and finally to how to run it this year and beyond in Week 3.

Throughout, please join in the discussions that you'll find at the bottom of the page to share your thoughts and questions. CoderDojo is a community movement, and every lesson and piece of advice in this course originally comes from a community member like you. We're always excited to hear new views and insights — who knows, your ideas might end up in an updated version of this course!

The history of CoderDojo
Why young people attend CoderDojo clubs, and the kinds of cool projects they make there
What CoderDojo's underlying principles and beliefs are
